How to Install WinZip for Windows
95/98/NT
These are the instructions for installing
WinZip for Windows 95/98/NT. If you have any questions or need assistance,

Please note that these directions may vary somewhat depending on what
kind of computer and software you use.
Hint on Using this page - Each
instruction on this page has a screen shot showing the screen you
should be in at that point. To view the screen shot for each step
click the 
icon (no pun intended) associated with
each step. In addition, it may be useful to print this page out to
have as you go through the installation process.
Step 1 - Downloading the Setup Program
- A screen will pop up called 'File Download'. On it make sure 'Save
this program to Disk' is selected and click 'OK'.
- Next you will get a window called "Save As" asking you where on
your computer you'd like to save the file. Pull down the menu at the
top and select 'Desktop'. Once you have 'Desktop' selected, click
the 'Save' button and the program will start to download to your computer.
- After the program finishes downloading, a screen will pop up that
says 'Download complete'. Click 'OK'. You should see a new icon on
your desktop called 'winzip95'.
Step
2 - Installing WinZip
- At this point you should have an icon on your desktop called 'winzip95'.
If you do not, go back and repeat Step 1. To
start the setup of WinZip, double click on the 'winzip95.exe' icon
on your desktop.
- On the first screen that pops up, click 'Setup'.
- On the next screen entitled "WinZip Setup" it asks you to select
the folder on your computer where WinZip will be installed. Unless
you have reason to change it, leave it set to 'C:\Program Files\WinZip'
and press 'OK' to continue.
- The setup program will quickly copy some files, and then bring up
a window saying 'Thank you for Installing WinZip!'. Just click 'Next'
to continue.
- On the next screen 'License Agreement and Warranty Disclaimer',
click 'Yes' to continue.
- Next, make sure the first option 'Start with the WinZip Wizard'
is selected and click 'Next'.
- On the next screen, select the first option 'Search Entire Hard
Disk' and click 'Next'. After a quick scan of your hard drive setup
will come up with a new screen telling you how many folders it found.
Click 'Next' to continue.
- The next and last screen will say 'WinZip Wizard Setup is Complete'.
Click the 'Next' button to continue.
- The next screen will say 'Welcome to the WinZip Wizard'. We're not
ready to do anything with WinZip yet so just hit 'Close' to finish
the setup process.
