Technical Modifications for Unix/Linux/Other

In order to ensure that your DSL continues to work, you will need to perform these changes to your computer sometime between Tuesday, August 28th and Saturday September 1st. Then, after our maintenance period on Sunday morning, (September 2nd) you will need to reboot your computer one more time.

If your computer is part of a network, you should check with your Network Administrator before making any changes.

Make sure you have administrator rights to your Windows NT computer.
  • Close all programs.
  • Double click on My Computer.
  • Double click on Control Panel.
  • Double click on Network.
  • Go to the tab on top that says "protocols".
  • Highlight TCP/IP Protocol, and then click on properties.
  • Place a dot next to "Obtain an IP address from a DHCP server." At this point it may give you a warning starting with "DHCP protocol will attempt to automatically...", click on "Yes".
  • Go to the tab on top that says "DNS".
  • Under DNS search order, highlight 209.94.100.100, and click on "Remove". Then highlight 209.94.100.200, and click on "Remove". If there is anything else under DNS search order, remove them as well.
  • If there is anything under "Domain Suffix Search Order", highlight it and click on "Remove".
  • Click "OK" twice.
  • You may need to restart your computer for the changes to take affect.
Please make sure to go back and submit your MAC address, or click here to do so.
