A major part of my life has been spent in "creating music". I've always been interested in all types of music and I remember as a child listening to the "Live From Birdland" broadcasts every Saturday night on the radio. From blues artists like Muddy Waters and Sonny Terry, to the early days of Motown, all were listened to with a passion. And yes, although it might reveal something about my age, I also loved the "doo-wops" and many an afternoon was spent in class listening to the A Cappella vocal groups practicing in the school hallways... always a treat because of the "echo" effect the stairways gave. ...and then there was the record salesman in one of the local record shops who turned me on to Ravel and Stravinsky, whom I love to this day. I always enjoyed the “gifts” that listening to all types of music gave so freely, and this richness of early experience greatly assisted this drummer in being able to express herself in many different ways.

Of course now after so many decades of listening, practicing, and performing I have acquired a certain style and a certain way of "intuit-ing" my experiences, my life, into sound but that openness to all types of music is still within me.

The music that you hear in the background of this page is a MIDI work I call “As Is” derived from the music of the Lobi and Dagarti. As time and peace take their effects influenced by my current environment, a different type of sound, to paraphrase Cecil Taylor, is "in the brewing luminous".
